About Lore · Why we built it

We made a game to get people walking.

Most of us know we should walk more. Most of us don’t. Step goals, streaks and rings work for a week, then start to feel like homework.

So we tried something else. Lore is a murder mystery you can only solve by walking. You go out because you want the next clue. The steps come along for the ride.

What we believe

The fun comes first.

If the game isn’t worth playing, nobody will walk for it. So we put the work into the mystery: a real case every week, real suspects to question, a real answer on night 7.

Walking is the point.

The story is why you go out. The steps are why we built it. Every clue is tied to walking, because a short walk most days does more good than a big workout you never start.

No guilt. Ever.

Miss a night and the case waits. We don’t send shaming reminders, show red badges or count what you didn’t do.

No cheerleading.

No confetti, no emoji, no “you’re crushing it”. A calm narrator tells you what you found. We think adults can enjoy a walk without being cheered at.

Only the data we need.

From Apple Health, Lore reads your step count. Nothing else. That’s all the game needs, so that’s all we ask for.

Free every week.

The weekly case is always free. Membership adds extras for people who want more. No ads, ever.

“The story is the reason to go out. The steps are the point.”
